Dr. Luís André Mezzomo DDS, PhD

Luis André Mezzomo, DDS, PhD, graduated in Dentistry at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul in 2003. Dr. Mezzomo was awarded the ITI Scholarship in 2008 with Prof. Nikolaos Donos, at the Eastman Dental Institute (London), and has completed his Implant fellowship in the following year. In 2010 he was granted with a PhD in Prosthodontics for studies in Alveolar Ridge Preservation (ARP).

Currently, he is an Adjunct Professor of Prosthodontics of the Department of Dentistry, Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil, and has students under his mentoring running their MSc and PhD Degrees in Prosthodontics. Dr. Mezzomo is the Principal Investigator of an ongoing ITI-Funded clinical trial on extra-short Straumann dental implants.

He has over than 60 published articles, 26 out of them in international peer-reviewed journals, and has collaborations with Queen Mary’s University of London, Semmelweis University (Budapest), University of Florida (Gainesville), Istanbul Okan University, and the University of Sao Paulo.

Dr.
Mezzomo is an ITI speaker and Fellow of the
International Team for Implantology. He is a member of the ITI Board of Studies, aiming at developing the ITI Diploma Program. Dr. Mezzomo lectures nationally and internationally at ITI Meetings, focusing on the topics “Short Dental Implants” and “Digital Workflow for the Edentulous Patient”.

Above all, Dr. Mezzomo is a clinician and practices at his private practice, treating complex patients with surgical or prosthetic needs that involve dental implants.

Dr. Mezzomo is a sports-driven person, focused on welfare and healthy activities like running. He is married to his wife Paula, and they both enjoy spending time with their beloved daughter Laura.
